Possible Cause

  • Damaged frame mesh assembly

If a stiff wire brush is used to clean the frame mesh assembly while applying downward pressure, the brush may push the assembly down onto the infrared burner.

This downward pressure can damage or deform the frame mesh assembly creating cold spots on the burner and preventing gas from igniting in those areas. The unburned gas then causes popping and fluttering noises.

If popping and fluttering noises are present
Replace frame mesh assembly with corresponding part number found in the parts catalogue. Advise the customer on proper frame mesh cleaning instructions.

Proper Cleaning Instructions

  • Allow the grill to fully preheat
  • Keep the burner on for 45 to 60 minutes to burn off any residue on the burner and frame mesh assembly
  • Allow the grill to fully cool
  • Gently remove the remaining ash using a soft-bristle brush (clean paintbrush or pastry brush)
